Warwickshire CCC Help “Five Ways Old Edwardian Cricket Club”

Tragedy struck at Five Ways Old Edwardian Cricket Club on Sunday night when a fire broke out in the clubhouse. The damage has left only the shell of the clubhouse and all the contents have been lost to the fire.

This is a devastating blow for such an active club and, with 14 games of cricket over the next ten days, they are desperately looking for temporary arrangements for essential facilities such as changing rooms and toilets.

As a supporter of Warwickshire CCC over many years the club has donated 100 tickets for next Friday’s Twenty20 Cup fixture for them to raffle and sell on to try and raise some urgently needed funds.

Mark Tovey, Club Chairman said, “this is a devastating blow for everyone associated with the Club particularly those members who have done so much in recent years to expand and improve cricket in the area.  We now have six weekend teams, a thriving women’s section and two junior sides.

Warwickshire CCC Marketing Manager Jonathan Cockcroft was saddened by the news. “Warwickshire CCC and Five Ways Old Edwardians have a strong relationship through the county’s ‘Club Together’ Scheme.  In this distressing time, we were delighted to assist Five Ways’ fundraising by offering them some complimentary Twenty20 Cup tickets.  This is a great example of ‘clubbing together’ and we hope Five Ways Old Edwardians CC returns to normality as soon as possible.”
