Warwickshire CCC Junior Bears Membership Passes 1,000

Warwickshire CCC are delighted to announce that the Junior Bears membership has doubled since 2005. There is now a record 1,004 Junior Bears who enjoy the great package that comes with the membership.

The Junior Bears have exclusive access to the outfield on one day matches (excluding Twenty20) at Edgbaston and also enjoy a coaching session in the Edgbaston Cricket Centre before the games starts. Each session has a guest appearance from one of the Warwickshire CCC squad to pass on tips to the youngsters. This is on top of being able to watch all Warwickshire games at Edgbaston, an excellent membership pack and a free ticket to Sunday’s match against Nottinghamshire to treat their Dad’s on Father’s Day. So kids joining this week can still get their Dad in free this Sunday!

Junior Bears Skipper, Neil Carter, is not surprised by the growth in membership.  “Cricket had a huge boost last year with the Ashes and this is one of the positive results. It is great to see all the kids on the outfield during the lunch intervals as I can remember doing it myself at Newlands. The package is such good value that even joining now is great value!”

No importation of alcohol allowed by fans at the Brit Oval

The Brit Oval would like to advise all spectators planning on attending the NatWest Series one-day international between England and Sri Lanka on 20 June that they are no longer permitted to bring any alcohol into the ground.

This ruling was made by the International Cricket Council late last year in close consultation with the ECB, the Police and Health & Safety Advisors. The regulation will apply to all grounds that host international cricket for what are classed “Category A” matches.

Category A matches at the Brit Oval this year are all international matches as well as the Twenty20 group games and the Australian Rules fixture held here in October.

Surrey Chief Executive, Paul Sheldon said, “We have worked extremely hard in communicating this to all of our fans so we’re confident that there will be no confusion on the day. We have also worked hard with our catering providers, Oval Events to ensure there is a wide selection of alcoholic beverages available and that all bar facilities will be managed effectively so we meet the extra demands.”

Category A matches at the Brit Oval this year are;

20 June NatWest Series England v Sri Lanka
28 June Twenty20 Cup Surrey v Kent
1 July Twenty20 Cup Surrey v Essex
4 July Twenty20 Cup Surrey v Sussex
7 July Twenty20 Cup Surrey v Middlesex
10 July Twenty20 Pakistan Earthquake match
17-21 August 4th npower Test match England v Pakistan
21 October AFL Challenge Trophy
