Mark Ramprakash has been awarded May’s Brit Insurance Player of the Month by cricket manager, Alan Butcher.
The Surrey run machine has been in tremendous form since the season got underway in April but May was the month that the former Middlesex man cried out to be noticed. In a Liverpool Victoria County Championship match against Gloucestershire at the Brit Oval recently, Ramprakash made a personal best score of 292.
And if that wasn’t enough, he followed it up with 118 against Worcestershire two weeks later.
The 36 year old’s thoughts will now turn Surrey’s match with Essex at Whitgift, a ground he has particularly fond memories of. In 2003, he struck 279* against Nottinghamshire, 134 against Lancashire in 2004 and scores of 39 and 18 against Warwickshire in 2005.
To date, Ramprakash has already scored 510 runs in the Championship with the Bradmanesque average of 102.
Surrey Cricket Manager, Alan Butcher, along with Nick Addecott from Brit Insurance will present Mark with the award at the lunch break.
