Surrey squad to play Glamorgan

Surrey have named a 13 man squad for their C&G match against Glamorgan this Monday at the Brit Oval.

Neil Saker comes into the mix after some excellent performances for the Second XI.

Ahead of the game both teams will observe a minute’s silence for Surrey legend, Eric Bedser, who died on Wednesday.

Monday’s match is a must win for both teams who are both languishing towards the bottom end of the table. In order for Surrey to keep their C&G chances alive, a win here is crucial.

The full Surrey squad is; Jonathan Batty (wicket-keeper), James Benning, Mark Ramprakash, Mark Butcher (captain), Ali Brown, Rikki Clarke, Azhar Mahmood, Ian Salisbury, Tim Murtagh, Jade Dernbach, Nayan Doshi, Stewart Walters, Neil Saker.

Man to watch: Ali Brown- Ali enjoys playing against Glamorgan and has particularly fond memories of his massive 268 he hit here against them in 2002. He has had a bit of a lean trot recently but is too good a player to be kept down for long.

Injury news: James Ormond has had a back problem and was recently sent to a specialist. He had a course of injections, which has helped his condition. The build up to full fitness will be gradual and he will miss this match as well as the entire Whitgift festival but Surrey medical staff believes he will be fit and available for selection the week after.

Scott Newman has a slight hamstring niggle but has responded well to treatment and will play at Whitgift.
