Edgbaston Groundstaff Win Against The Elements

Despite the recent adverse weather conditions, the groundstaff at Edgbaston have worked around the clock to ensure the ground was ready for a full day’s play for the 2nd npower Test Match which started today.

The inclement weather around Birmingham over the past few days has been a concern for Head Groundsman Steve Rouse. “It has been a worry as the weather has been so awful for the past week and the rain seemed never-ending. I have a great team of guys and I am delighted we were able to get the game in such good conditions in front of a big crowd.”

England have had a successful day after losing the toss and have bowled Sri Lanka out for 141.

Chief Executive, Colin Povey, has been delighted with the efforts of his team. “Steve and his team have done a great job to prepare the outfield after all the rain we’ve had and we are delighted with the way the pitch played. If the weather holds we hope the Edgbaston crowd can cheer England on to their first victory of the series.”
