ICC CWC 2007 Accreditation Process Starts July 1, 2006

Accreditation for media wishing to cover ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 – Warm-up and tournament matches – will commence on Saturday July 1, 2006.

Media personnel seeking to be accredited for this world-class Event will have five months in which to submit their applications, although early submission of forms is greatly encouraged. The December 1, 2006 deadline for accreditation will allow enough time for tournament authorities to undertake security screening, credential checks and any other necessary procedures before ICC approvals are sought and approvals are communicated.

Accreditation forms will be available from ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc., Local Organising Committees (LOCs), the national cricket boards of Participating Nations, via email on accreditation@rushmans.com and online in the Media Room of the ICC CWC 2007 website (www.cricketworldcup.com). Please note that accreditation forms will not be available before July 1.

A refundable deposit will be payable by media prior to the approval of applications, full details of which will be provided on the accreditation form.

Information regarding rate card, telephone and broadband access in media facilities at all Host Venues will be given to media persons who are accredited.

Media who intend to apply for accreditation can utilise ICC CWC 2007 Official Tour Operator, Cricket Logistics 2007 (margaret@cricketlogistics.com or tony@cricketlogistics.com), for travel and accommodation bookings. However, this does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted. As accommodation in the region is in high demand during the tournament, media are encouraged to contact Cricket Logistics as soon as possible.

Trevor Penney returns to Edgbaston

Trevor Penney will return to Edgbaston on Thursday 25th May in his new capacity as Sri Lanka’s assistant coach. Trevor who spent 14 years with the Bears was renound for his fielding prowess.

The 2nd npower Test Match between England and Sri Lanka starts at 11.00a.m on Thursday 25th May and is expected to be a well fought contest between the sides. Sri Lanka boast a solid batting line up with the likes of Sangakkara and Jayawardene and their bowling attack contains the legendary Muralitharan who currently has 611 Test Match wickets to his name.

The England side will return to the scene of their dramatic win against Australia last summer which was labelled as the ‘Greatest Ever Test.’

Trevor is confident that the game at Edgbaston will be an exciting one. “Man for man it promises to be a very exciting Test Match. With England beating the Aussies last year it is a great incentive for our guys to come and beat England on home soil. We have been working hard over the last 6 months and it all clicks together we are a threat to any team. It will be a change for me to sit in the away dressing room but I am looking forward to coming home to Edgbaston – the crowds have always been so supportive of me!”
