Ormond to miss Surrey vs. Worcestershire match
James Ormond has succumbed to a lower back problem and will now miss Surrey’s Liverpool Victoria County Championship (LVCC) match with Worcestershire that begins tomorrow at the Brit Oval.
Ormond, who has played a crucial role for Surrey to date in their Championship campaign, had been rested for Surrey’s last two C&G matches but after further treatment on the injury, it was decided that he should miss the match against Worcester.
He will see a specialist today but it is hoped that he will be fit for the next LVCC match against Essex beginning on 31 May against Essex at Whitgift.
Rikki Clarke, who missed Surrey’s last match against Gloucestershire due to England A duties, comes back into the Surrey team.
The full Surrey team is:
Scott Newman
Jonathan Batty (wicket-keeper)
Mark Ramprakash
Mark Butcher (captain)
Ali Brown
Rikki Clarke (vice-captain)
James Benning
Azhar Mahmood
Ian Salisbury
Tim Murtagh
Mohammad Akram
Nayan Doshi
12th man will be announced tomorrow morning.
In other injury news, Martin Bicknell is nearing a full recovery from his groin injury that he suffered a month ago. He bowled without pain in the nets today and will play for his club side, Guildford this Saturday.
