ICC & GCC Officials In Barbados For ICC CWC 2007 Meetings

Leading officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Global Cricket Corporation (GCC) are meeting with ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc. in Barbados this week to assess the region’s progress towards hosting ICC Cricket World Cup next year.

ICC President Ehsan Mani, ICC CEO Malcolm Speed and ICC Commercial Manager Campbell Jamieson are among those in Bridgetown for the latest round of compliance and management meetings which started yesterday. Ian Frykberg, CEO of the GCC – which owns the broadcast and sponsorship rights for ICC CWC 2007 – and ICC Host Liaison Officer, Chris Tetley, are also in attendance.

ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc. Managing Director & CEO, Chris Dehring, heads the delegation from CWC headquarters in Jamaica and is accompanied by ICC CWC 2007 Venue Development Director, Donald Lockerbie; ICC CWC 2007 Senior Legal Counsel, Derek Jones; ICC CWC 2007 Event Director, Nigel Rushman; ICC CWC 2007 Security Director, John Collymore; ICC CWC 2007 Cricket Operations Director, Michael Hall and ICC CWC 2007 Commercial Manager, Stephen Price.

The ICC will receive detailed updates on various aspects of preparation for the tournament which will be held across nine Host Venues in the Caribbean next March and April. The ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc. Board of Directors will also meet with the visiting ICC and GCC representatives tomorrow as the three days of deliberations come to a close.

These meetings are being held just as the region gets ready to mark the 300-day countdown – next Monday (May 15) – to the Opening Ceremony of ICC CWC 2007 on Sunday March 11, 2007.
